K5ND Writing
Of course, almost everything on this website is a result of my writing, both reasonably good along with some that’s either outdated or needing improvement. But I thought it would be a good idea to assemble some of the ham radio related writing that I’ve done over the years for other publications. Here’s the short gallery.
Rip Van Winkle Meets 21st Century Amateur Radio — ARRL Website 2007
I wrote this article shortly after re-entering the hobby in 2006 after passing the Extra Class License exam and gaining the call sign K5ND. It was also in the early days of ARRL’s website development. Link to article.

Magic Band, Magic Contesting — ARRL National Contest Journal May/June 2020
I also pitched an article on six meters in the hope of getting a few more operators to press the 50 MHz button on their rigs and participate in the contest.
An In-Depth Look at the K5ND VHF Rover Setup — ARRL National Contest Journal November/December 2020
I completed three articles that year with this one about the details of my rover station. That also landed me a photo on the cover!
Six Meters, The Magic and Tragic Band — CQ Amateur Radio February 2021
I proposed this article to Rich Moseson, W2VU, and since he was short an article for the VHF Plus column, mine was slotted right in. Hopefully, it was able to recruit a few new operators on the magic band. K5ND Six Meter CQ Magazine February 2021
That’s it to date.
