Writing in 2020 — That’s What I Do

I am a writer but I’m also a counter. Nearby you can find a cartoon depicting me during my publishing management days.

One of our creative teams developed a story called Jimmy Locks that focused on my constant measuring of performance stats along with building plans to get better, continuously.

Perhaps that’s the genesis of my annual review of writing activities, primarily on this blog. So here’s some stats and thoughts from a year of writing from home in 2020.

The Count

The total number of blog entries on this website for 2020 was 49. This brought the total posts to 429. While I’ve written another post about traffic on the website, I see that the top post Six Meter Dipole now has 9,300 views since 2014. But the Six Meter eBook in only a few months has already reached 5,400 views, with 3,000 downloads. Popular content items.

The Breadth

Most of my writing has been about amateur radio. I’m quite pleased to have had three articles published in the ARRL National Contest Journal in 2020, including seeing my photo on the cover. Icom America and FB News Worldwide have also published a number of my blog posts. And I was able to publish a couple of articles in the Boy Scouts of America’s Now & Then Newsletter for retirees. Along with a couple on LinkedIn.

Big Projects

The Six Meter eBook was a big and popular project. However, my biggest effort was writing pamphlets on my Family Heritage. This included one on my maternal grandparents and one on my paternal grandparents. Not a lot of circulation there outside my family.

In December I also restarted my freelance writing business and have picked up a new client and quite a few projects. That’s been fun and brings in some money.

I hope you’ve found some value in the articles that have attracted your attention. Next it’s on to 2021. Best wishes to you and your families.
