VHF Contesting Presentation — K5ND’s Pitch

I’ve developed a presentation on VHF Contesting that might be of interest to hams and ham clubs. Here’s the slide deck in PDF or click on the image below. I’m open to provide this presentation, or other topics, to your ham club meeting. Contact me here.

The original request for this presentation came from the Front Range 6 Meter Group. Paul, NOØT, and Bill, WTØDX, contacted me after reading my article on 6 meters in the recent issue of the ARRL National Contest Journal. The presentation on Zoom this past week went well.

I will also note that I attended their previous meeting where the topic was 6 Meter Harris Amplifiers by Paul, N2EME. It was very interesting. He also touched on SDR receivers at the start of the meeting. I now have an SDR for next step experimentation on improving my 6 meter performance. No amp yet. Good stuff.

On that topic, I hope you were able to attend the online Contest University 2020 yesterday. Over 2,000 attended and saw the always exemplary array of speakers and presentations. I’ve attended the live version three times over the years. It’s always super and I’m delighted that more people got to see it.

Check out the recorded videos and the presentation slide decks for this year’s event as well as previous years. I recommend Joel Harrison, W5ZN, and his VHF Contesting presentations. Those presentations were one of the seeds planted that started my own VHF contesting journey.

For later this summer I recommend checking out the QSO Today Virtual Ham Expo planned for August 8 and 9. It’s a full amateur radio expo complete with exhibitors, presentations, etc. all on a virtual reality platform. You don’t want to miss this one.

In the meantime, plan to attend your club’s online meetings and enjoy the at-a-distance connection.

    • Thanks for finding that, Rus, and letting me know. The slides were OK but my fickle fingers messed up on the blog post. Correct now. 73, Jim, K5ND
