I’ve had some fun today scanning a few of my old magazine articles. You can find them at this link.
They include two articles I wrote for 73 Magazine. Wayne Green, the forward thinking publisher, gave me my start in publishing by publishing these articles and my first book — SSB: The Misunderstood Mode. I was teaching electronics at the time and when Heathkit needed educational writers I was able to point to my published writing, teaching experience, and snag the job.
I’ve also included on the same page the advertisement that Heathkit ran in QST Magazine seeking “a cross between Hemingway and Marconi”. I’m sure I didn’t match up to that requirement, but they did hire me!
It’s fun to see these early articles and what would still be some interesting construction projects. Check them out!
