Radio Scouting
Radio Scouting is the general heading for all things pertaining to Scouting and amateur radio. Those include Jamboree on the Air, the Radio Merit Badge, and the National Jamboree plus a whole host of activities that happen year round. You may have read about the amateur radio station K2BSA that represents the National Office of the Boy Scouts of America and operates at the National Jamboree. Well there are lots more of the BSA call signs out there as I’ve learned over the past few years. The interest in Radio Scouting is high.
I’ve been honored to serve as Chairman of the Boy Scout of America’s National Radio Scouting Committee 2011 to 2017, Chair of the BSA JOTA Task Force in 2018, as the President of the K2BSA Amateur Radio Association 2012 through 2019, and as a member of the World Organization of the Scout Movement’s Jamboree on the Air and Jamboree on the Internet Team from 2014 to 2018. I also served at the 2019 World Scout Jamboree leading the NA1WJ amateur radio operation.
The best places to keep up on Radio Scouting information are at the K2BSA website, the Boy Scouts of America’s Jamboree on the Air pages, the ARRL Scouting web pages, and the World JOTA-JOTI website.
