My New Year holiday was spent moving my ham shack and getting the satellite eggbeater antennas all set up. You can see the driving location above. You can also find a full gallery of photos and a brief history of my ham shack development at my K5ND Ham Shack page.
I essentially moved the shack from the master bedroom bay window, where it’s resided for about 10+ years. While there it was convenient for running antenna cables to the side yard for the push up mast — which is no more. And I ran a couple of cables into the attic. Those antennas aren’t there anymore either, replaced by the eggbeaters. That left routing the cable for the MA6V vertical to a different window.
The shack is now located in our game room right next to my office computer where I ruled the freelance writing world — well, at least for my few clients. It gives me a great deal more space and makes it very convenient to do a bit of work while monitoring six meters or the satellites.
We’ll see how it works. Then we’ll change it some more. There’s always a new ham radio adventure.
Nice new setup Jim! I can’t wait to build my own shack again. I do miss my own radio room so much.
Great to hear from you Jim. Good luck with building your own shack — sooner rather than later!
