As my Christmas vacation was approaching, I created a fairly large “to-do” list. A key set of tasks was working on the K2BSA Amateur Radio Association’s website and on their Facebook page. You saw earlier the updates to the website design. Now I’ve just completed the updates to the Facebook page. You can find it here.
A couple of weeks ago I watched a HootSuite video about Facebook pages that provided lots of action items. A critical one was to update the cover photo. You can see what I came up with below. Essentially, I used the best of the Jamboree on the Air photos that were submitted this year and patched them together using PhotoShop. Not too bad a job for a novice PhotoShop user.
The next big move was to add a number of milestones to the timeline. These included the introduction of the Wireless Merit Badge in 1918 followed by renaming it to the Radio Merit Badge in 1923. Next were the various covers of the Radio Merit Badge Pamphlet over the years, along with several other key events such as the first license for K2BSA in 1971.
My next task will be to figure out how to use the application ShortStack to add a photo contest or something similar. This will help to build the number of people that are following the page. I’ll keep you posted — yet another ham radio adventure.
